Health and Care Advocacy

Our new service has started in Newcastle and Gateshead

Do you need support to:

  •          speak up for yourself
  •          find out about your rights
  •          make decisions and choices
  •          get services or support

Do you also belong to one or more of the following groups:

  •          a Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community
  •          mental health needs
  •          learning disabilities
  •          physical disabilities
  •          over 55 years old
  •          a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and/or Transgender (LGBT) community

If so, we can support you to:

  •          understand your rights
  •          find information
  •          have your views and wishes heard
  •          get the health and social care services you need
  •          deal with letters and phone calls
  •          prepare for meetings
  •          keep safe from abuse

Our new Health and Care Advocacy service started on 1 January 2019 and is funded by NHS Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group until March 2022. We have provided these services for many years to adults in Newcastle and are excited to use our extensive experience to expand them to adults in Gateshead. This will ensure that their voices are heard in health and social care decisions about them and their rights upheld now and in the future.
